Tamim Iqbal Expresses Gratitude After Recovering from Heart Attack

Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal took to social media to express his deep appreciation after being discharged from the hospital following a heart attack on Monday. Although he officially retired from international cricket in January 2025, Tamim has continued to play domestic cricket. During a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match between his team, Mohammedan Sporting Club, and Shinepukur Cricket Club, Tamim felt discomfort immediately after the toss. He was promptly taken to the hospital for initial treatment but later collapsed, necessitating angioplasty surgery.

A Grateful Return to Health

Tamim was discharged from the hospital on Friday, four days after the heart attack, and shared his gratitude with his supporters in a heartfelt post on Facebook. "Thanks to all your prayers, I am home now," he wrote in a message in Bangla. Reflecting on his experience, Tamim expressed that the past few days had brought him new realizations about life. "In these four days, I have discovered my surroundings as I found a new life. All that realization has only love and gratitude," he shared. The former captain expressed how much more deeply he now felt the love and support he has received throughout his career.

A Heartfelt Thank You to His Support Team

Tamim also expressed immense gratitude to the medical professionals and hospital staff who were instrumental in his recovery. A special mention was made of his trainer, Yakub Chowdhury Dalim, who performed CPR when Tamim collapsed, an action the doctors later confirmed as life-saving. "I don't know how to thank our trainer Yakub Chowdhury Dalim Bhai. I later learned from the specialists that I wouldn't have survived without his timely CPR," Tamim acknowledged. His words underscored how crucial the support from those around him was during such a critical time.

Legacy of a Cricketing Icon

Regarded as one of Bangladesh's finest batsmen, Tamim Iqbal's cricketing career spans 387 matches across all formats, where he amassed 15,192 runs, including 25 centuries. Tamim remains the second-highest run-scorer for Bangladesh in international cricket, behind only Mushfiqur Rahim. While his international career may have ended, his contributions to Bangladeshi cricket will be remembered for years to come.

Tamim concluded his message by asking his fans to keep him and his family in their prayers as he continues on the road to full recovery. "May everyone's life be beautiful and peaceful," he wrote. "Love for everyone."
